Draugr Media Group was founded in 2017 by Erik "ERIKUR" Umland. DMG is a multimedia production house that specializes in Mixing, Mastering, and Recording. Our services and abilities, however, do not stop at Audio Production. We also accommodate many other multimedia needs, such as Video Editing and Sound Design. We also have in-house instrument repair and customization services available. A full list of our services has been made available on the services page.
Here at DMG, we strive to provide a multitude of services under one roof. Customer satisfaction and bringing out the best in a project are the heart and soul of DMG. When it comes to Music Production, we have a unique approach that melds modern techniques with old-school style. Unique Mics, Pre-Amps, Plug-Ins, Mastering Grade Audio Converters, and top-notch Professional Monitors provide a limitless canvas to bring client projects to life. We choose to think outside of the traditional box here at DMG. While small in size and independently owned, DMG provides outstanding quality at a sensible price.
DMG was formerly Pulmonary Embolism Music, which formed after the band split in 2013. Erik Umland continued the project on his own for several years. In 2015, the need to expand became apparent. With this need to expand arose the desire to rebrand, and a few years later, it was put into motion. Pulmonary Embolism as a whole would be laid to rest after a quiet release in 2016. All previously unpublished materials have since been released on the Pulmonary Embolism Bandcamp page. During this quiet release, Draugr Meda Group would be forged after bringing together several independent entities under one roof. Asgard Strings, Midgard Customs, and Bear Cave Studios became unified under the DMG name. Thus, Draugr Media Group was born.
The word Draugr comes from the Old Norse Language spoken by the Vikings and early Scandinavians. Old Norse later gave birth to many of the spoken tongues across Europe. Icelandic is one of two languages in modern existence that are close to the original tongue. Draugr is the word given to a spirit that is not at rest. This includes such things as Ghosts, Banshees, Poltergeists, Zombies, and many otherworldly beings. While popularized by the multi-platform game Skyrim, Erik Umland's choice of the name is rooted in his deep love of Scandinavian and Pagan history. The word Draugr is used to represent the Undead aka Zombies. A fitting name given his deep love for History, Horror, Metal, and the Spiritual Realm.
